GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics have announced plans to expand their partnership by deploying Agility Robotics’ Digit humanoid robots at two additional GXO logistics facilities in the United States, located in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee. These deployments are scheduled to begin in early 2027 and aim to support e-commerce fulfillment and repetitive material handling tasks within the warehouses.
This expansion builds on a proof-of-concept project initiated in late 2023 at GXO’s Flowery Branch, Georgia facility, where Digit robots have moved over 100,000 totes while working alongside existing automation systems.
In June 2024, the companies formalized their collaboration with a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement, introducing Digit robots into live commercial operations managed via Agility Arc, a cloud platform for robot fleet management and warehouse system integration.
GXO CEO Patrick Kelleher emphasized the partnership’s focus on delivering practical operational benefits to both employees and customers. The next deployment phase will introduce Digit 4 robots at the new sites, with plans to upgrade to the Digit 5 model after its commercial release. Digit 5, unveiled in September 2026, is designed for safe and versatile operation alongside humans across various industrial tasks.
Agility Robotics has accumulated over 65,000 hours of real-world operation of Digit robots, informing the development of next-generation models. CEO Peggy Johnson noted that expanding deployments to multiple sites reflects growing market confidence in humanoid robots’ scalability.
To support production, Agility established RoboFab, a 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Salem, Oregon, capable of producing up to 10,000 robots annually. The company is also expanding its software and support services to facilitate broader adoption of humanoid robotics in industrial and logistics sectors.
Additionally, Agility Robotics is preparing for a public listing through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2026, with trading anticipated on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.
For GXO, this expansion aligns with its strategy to integrate advanced automation into existing warehouse operations, marking a significant step in the commercial deployment of humanoid robots within the logistics industry.
