GXO Logistics is expanding its partnership with Agility Robotics by introducing Digit humanoid robots at two additional warehouses in the United States. Following successful proof-of-concept trials at its Flowery Branch, Georgia facility since 2023, GXO plans to deploy the Digit 4 robots at its Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee warehouses beginning in early 2027, with an upgrade to the Digit 5 model planned upon commercial availability.

The Digit robots will assist with repetitive material-handling tasks to enhance e-commerce fulfillment, working alongside existing automation systems. This deployment follows a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement signed between the companies in June 2024. At the Flowery Branch site, the robots have already moved over 100,000 totes.

Patrick Kelleher, CEO of GXO, highlighted the technology’s potential to improve customer value and the working environment for employees. The robots are managed through Agility Arc, a cloud-based platform that integrates robot fleets with warehouse operations.

Agility Robotics is also preparing for other deployments, including a 2027 pilot at AGCO’s Kansas facility and has expanded its facilities in Pittsburgh to support robot deployment and servicing.
